The Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel and Raphael

Today the Church celebrates three archangels whose names we know from Scripture: Michael, Gabriel and Raphael. Each reminds us of a different way God cares for his people.

Michael stands for God’s protection in the face of evil. Gabriel brings God’s message to Mary, inviting her to welcome Jesus into the world. Raphael accompanies Tobias on his journey and is associated with healing.

Their stories remind us that we do not walk alone. God can give us courage when we are afraid, help us hear his call, and guide us through times when the way ahead is uncertain.

As we celebrate their feast, we might pause and ask: Where do I need God’s protection, guidance or healing today? And how might I bring a little of that care to someone else?
