St. Monica and St. Augustine

On 27 and 28 August, the Church celebrates Saint Monica and her son, Saint Augustine.

Monica prayed faithfully for many years for Augustine’s conversion, never losing hope in God’s grace. Augustine eventually became one of the Church’s greatest saints, bishops and teachers.

Their story offers encouragement to anyone praying for a loved one. Even when we cannot see what God is doing, no sincere prayer is wasted.
